As triple winners at the 2011 US International Film Festival and the largest Independent production company in the North East, Dene Films have been very busy working on exciting broadcast projects.
Monday 23rd January saw the release of the 1964 Doctor Who story 'The Sensorites' on BBC DVD - with the release including Dene's brand new, acclaimed documentary 'Looking for Peter'.
Presented by Sony Award-winning comedian, Toby Hadoke, this film goes out on the road to discover the truth about The Sensorites' mysterious writer, Peter R Newman. The result is a kind of 'Doctor Who Do You Think You Are', with a few tears before bedtime. 'Looking for Peter' is produced and directed by Dene's BAFTA-nominated Chris Chapman, edited by Richard Alderson and mixed by Peter Groom. Early reviews have been raves - Eye of Horus called it "essential viewing... Intelligent, thoughtful, charmingly witty, reverent, and accomplished", Cathode Ray Tube went with "a gem of a documentary", whilst Starburst Magazine described it as "rather charming" and Blogtor Who labelled it "a most welcome diversion from the norm... Hadoke brings a warmth and sense of joy to the proceedings and one hopes for similar outings in the future."
Chris commented: "We're really proud of this one - and the reaction it's been getting so far has been very touching." The film is the 15th of Dene's Doctor Who documentaries to be released - commissioned by 2|entertain - with another dozen in the works.
