The release is the first of many that Dene have been commissioned to make for 2|entertain and BBC DVD Produced by Dene Films' Chris Chapman. The classic Tom Baker adventure 'The Deadly Assassin', featuring the documentary 'The Gallifreyan Candidate' hit shops nationwide, reaching a very impressive 25 in the UK DVD Sales Chart (which includes films as well as television) and will soon be released internationally.
The Gallifreyan Candidate' takes an analytical look at the links between the Doctor Who story (which features the first big exploration of Gallifrey, The Doctor's home planet, in the series' history) and the book (and later film) The Manchurian Candidate by Richard Condon. Producer Director Chris Chapman was interviewed in a recent edition of Doctor Who Magazine to promote his work, and commented "I've been a Dr Who fan ever since I could figure out what a television was, so it's been a genuine joy getting to work on the Classic DVD range, and great fun working on The Gallifreyan Candidate – my first documentary to hit the shelves." The documentary has been very well received by Doctor who fans across the world.
The next release in the series is the documentary 'Time Zones' - due for release on the 6th July alongside the 3-disc Patrick Troughton epic The War Games – the final story of his three year tenure as The Doctor. In addition, Chris has produced five more documentaries for release, with many more in the pipeline.
