Feature Film grading at Dene

posted 10th January 2012

Richard Alderson begins the colour grade of a feature film, "The Man Inside". The Scanner Rhodes production was written and directed by Dan Turner and produced by Dean Fisher.

This tense, psychological drama was shot in Newcastle in the Summer of 2011, and stars Ashley Thomas, Michelle Ryan, David Harewood and Peter Mullan and centres around a young boxer, played by Thomas, who is haunted by the legacy of his brutal gangster father.

As our specialist drama and long form editor, Richard is excited about getting the chance to grade to the film, which he initially edited in September of last year.

DaVinci is well known for the quality and subtlety of its tool set, and working from the raw red rushes will allow Richard to get the most out of scenes where light has been kept minimal for dramatic effect. In particular, Richard will be looking at the tonal balance in those darker areas to add a crisp and intense look to the pictures, while maintaining detail in the flesh tones. The DaVinci's automated tracking and vignetting tools will also get a good outing. We look forward to seeing the results on the big screen.
