The team at Dene is looking forward to the broadcast of not one but two documentaries on the BBC in February.
'Stammer School', which airs on Saturday 26th February at 11:15am on BBC2, is a 30-minute documentary which forms part of the ‘My Life’ CBBC documentary series.
This emotional and inspiring film follows the real-life stories of six young stammerers, undergoing two weeks of intensive speech therapy at the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering Children in London. Palin himself makes an appearance as the children battle to take control of their stammers.
The film was shot by Jeremy Bishop, edited by Richard Alderson with Elaine McMahon as Associate Producer, Claire Storey-Lambert as Executive Producer and was directed and produced by Chris Chapman.
'The Last Cast: The Year Teesside Steelmaking Stopped', which airs on Wednesday 23rd February at 7:30pm on BBC 1 North East & Cumbria, is a 30-minute documentary which looks back on the mothballing of the Corus steelworks in Redcar from February last year.
This closure seemed to signal the end of a 150 year history of iron and steelmaking in Teesside and saw over 1000 men and women lose their jobs. 'The Last Cast' catches up with the men and women who left the site and charts how dramatically their lives have changed.
The film was shot by Simon August, edited by Richard Alderson, with Steve Salam as Executive Producer and was directed and produced by Chris Chapman.
