Nominated for a BAFTA

posted 15th December 2011

Producer Chris Chapman says: "We pitched Stammer School to CBBC before anyone had really heard of the movie ‘The King's Speech’ but our timing was perfect - we aired on the same weekend as the film won its Oscars and we benefitted greatly from the publicity. It's nice to be ahead of the curve on that type of thing - and the response since transmission has been remarkable and testament to the moving stories of the children we featured. The BAFTA nomination and attending the awards was a real honour and although you're always going to be disappointed to miss out on the silverware, I couldn’t imagine a nicer place to be disappointed in. I'm very proud of the whole team and what this film has achieved."

The annual Awards celebrate excellence in the art forms of the moving image for Children - from Film and Television to Video Games and Websites and the winner for the 2011 BAFTA for Best Factual went to John Miller and James Brickell for CBBC's hugely popular Deadly 60.

Dene Films MD Steve Salam says: “BAFTA celebrates the very best in Children's entertainment and we feel proudly honoured to have been nominated. Here at Dene Films we set a high standard on the quality of work we produce and in the process we pay great attention to our art, it’s all in the detail and I believe this comes across in our creativity. Chris’s passion for broadcast production is inspirational.”

Earlier this year Dene Films were honoured to receive the Golden Camera Award for Best Documentary Short for Stammer School at the U.S. International Film & Video Festival.
